What is the Home Energy Challenge –
Energy Awareness Month Edition?

The Home Energy Challenge is a program for families with K-12 students living in an Eversource community in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or Connecticut. This fun and easy project invites students to measure the difference in energy usage between an LED bulb and an incandescent bulb. All materials needed to participate in the Home Energy Challenge are included in the kit provided by Eversource. One lucky student per state will be randomly selected to win an Apple iPad!

Once registered, Eversource will provide students with one kit per family that includes the materials needed and a guide on how to complete the tasks in the Home Energy Challenge.

What is in the Home Energy Challenge Task Kit?

Digital multimeter with red and black leads
4 Alligator clip wires
2 Battery holders
2 AA batteries
1 Mini-incandescent bulb
1 Mini-LED bulb
1 Light bulb holder

What will the students learn?

The Home Energy Challenge and accompanying lessons about home energy conservation and efficiency will engage families in learning about the energy they use at home. Using the lessons and tools, provided by Eversource, families will learn how LED bulbs can help save money and energy!
